This is my escape, I'm running through this world and I'm not looking back. And I know I can go Where no one's ever gone and I'm not looking back. But how will I know when I get there? And how will I know when to leave? We've all gotta start from somewhere, and it's right there for me, the possibilities are never-ending. I see it, I see it, and now it's all within my reach, endless possibility. I see it, I see it now; it's always been inside of me, and now I feel so free, endless possibility.

Sonic the Hedgehog is a video game mascot created Japanese developers Yuji Naka, Naoto Ohshima, and Hirokazu Yasuhara for Sega. He is an anthropomorphic hedgehog with primarily blue fur, alongside peach accents on his muzzle, arms, and inner ears. He is usually seen wearing white gloves and red shoes with a gold buckle.
Although games in the franchise were originally thought of as the best platformers in the genre, modern sonic games are infamously known for being glitchy, underdeveloped, and overall low quality. Despite this, the fanbase has stayed strong. There are now 2 (almost 3) mainstream movies, a very successful comic and several recent games that finally show the same level of quality the franchise was originally known for.

And so I'll carry on; my time to shine has come, I feel it! As fast as I can go, straight to the top, I know, you'll see it! So please wake me up when I get there, it feels like I'm lost in a dream. I know in my heart that it's my time, and I already see the possibilities are never-ending. I see it, I see it, and now it's all within my reach, endless possibility. I see it, I see it now; it's always been inside of me, and now I feel so free, endless possibility.

Sonic, to me, is more than just a mascot for a company. I know, realistically, that his purpose is to do nothing more than to be marketable and gain capital for SEGA, but that doesn't erase my feelings about him as a character.
When I was exposed to the internet for the first time, the first video I saw on youtube was a SonAmy tribute video to set to Kesha's We R Who We R. I was OBSESSED with this video, and after a while, I became obsessed with Sonic himself as well.
I spent nearly all of my childhood looking at various Sonic content on the internet. I would always ask for the mainline games when they came out, but my dumb child brain (and my physical inability to play platformers) made it so I could never get very far in. I remember I was stuck on the first night level of Sonic Unleashed for HOURS and eventually just gave up.

As I've grown up and matured, I've always expected my love for Sonic to eventually falter, but it hasn't. No matter how old I get, I still start giggling and rocking back and forth whenever someone mentions him to me. I care about him a lot, and I feel extremely connected to him on a deeply personal level. His attitude and outlook on life has shaped my own life in so many ways it would take literal hours to explain all of it. I just really, really love this dude.

Oh and Classic Sonic sucks you're all just blinded by 90s nostalgia and the inability to be earnest.

"Drop that smile, 'cause you're beaten again" No, this is where my journey begins! "You're losin' speed, you're losin' your flow" But inside me is a power you'll never know! "Then let it out; it's inside you" You better all stand back, 'cause I'm coming through!!! I see it, I see it, and now it's all within my reach, endless possibility! I see it, I see it now; it's always been inside of me, and now I feel so free, endless possibility! (Endless possibility) Endless possibility! (Endless possibility) Endless possibility!!!
